DATA INTELLIGENCE

The transformation of legacy business applications is a path laden with the pitfalls of underestimation, under-resourcing and generally, not enough respect given to the complexities of large-scale Data Migrations. IT staff begin data migration projects with the best intentions; yet all too often they soon discover that the process is far more complex than they first planned for. Typically, expenditure slowly begins to cascade into the red, due to project deadlines being overrun by months, sometimes even years.
"In our view, data migration has historically been under-valued, under-resourced and not treated with the attention it deserves."
- Philip Howard, Bloor Research
As a result of this underestimation, many major migration projects have failed either partially or completely. Consider that research undertaken by the Standish Group in 1999 found that more than 80% of data migration
projects ran over time or budget. When Bloor Research conducted a similar survey in 2007 they found that the failure rate had not changed. What we can interpolate from this data is that almost eight years of
technological advances and enhancements to the tools available had no positive influence on the outcome of migration projects. The conclusion that we can draw from
this interpolation is that ultimately, stand-alone, traditional tools are not enough. To get the job completed, you need highly-developed data migration
methodologies, experienced professionals and special-purpose
tools that have been specifically designed to successfully complete
data migration projects, on time and on budget.
We offer all of this to you with our Data Migration Solutions.
